How we can backup native Secret store (variables) on nomad 1.4.1

How can we secure variables in nomad 1.4.1 in case of cluster crashs ?

Hi @Antse,

You can use the operator snapshot save command to regularly save the current cluster state and use operator snapshot restore to restore a cluster during disaster recovery.

You’re far too kind.

Any plans to have a functionality only for variables?

There are no current plans for this enhancement, however, we are always open to feedback and community input on our roadmap. We chatted briefly about this internally yesterday and believe it would also be possible using the API and a small custom script/application.

Uhm, shouldn’t you also backup the keyring? See Key Management | Nomad | HashiCorp Developer :

However, this means that to restore a cluster from snapshot you need to also provide the keystore directory with the .nks.json key files on at least one server. The .nks.json key files are unique per server, but only one server’s key files are needed to recover the cluster. Operators should include these files as part of your organization’s backup and recovery strategy for the cluster.
