I would like my vagrant boxes not to be called vagrant_default, so that people can download other vagrant boxes and not have name issues.

Did you create this box with Packer? I am not entirely sure where the display name of vagrant_default is coming from – it might help me narrow it down if you can tell me how you’re creating the box, and what builder you’re using where you notice the display name.
