Root NYC is a NYC-based product development lab, advisory, and incubation company. We are looking to hire an expert DevOps engineer with software development skills into our core team. The individual that we hire will work with both our advisory clients as well as Root NYC portfolio companies. This position is 100% remote (from anywhere in the U.S.).

Main Responsibilities
- Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through Terraform pipelines
- Provide oversight and subject matter expertise on Terraform for other team members
- Automate software development build and delivery processes
- Architect comprehensive, and efficient Agile and DevOps practices
- Validate existing solution architectures and make recommendations for improvements
- Inspect issues in automation and software delivery and suggest steps to solve those quickly
- Focus on security and risk mitigation through technology
- Understand and analyze complex business problems to define and develop technology-based solutions
- Analyze and execute best practices in order to streamline DevOps practices
- Work with business owners and stakeholders to gain a strong understanding of needs and develop technical business requirements; collaborating in an Agile/Scrum team with product owners to deliver upon the most important business and technical priorities
- Document and maintain project records related to technical and design decisions
- Ensure compliance with all regulations, policies, and procedures
Experience Required
- 3-5 years DevOps experience required, Sr. role experience preferred
- Experience with building Terraform from scratch (3+ years)
- Experience with Terragrunt (2+ years)
- Experience with Azure DevOps (CI/CD) (3+ years)
- Proficiency in a programming language (Python, Java, .Net).
- Azure Proficient
- Extraordinary cross-functional communication skills
- Strong operational experience
- A clear understanding of DevOps tools, structure, processes, and mindsets
- Solid understanding of software development and distributed systems concepts
- Configuration management proficiency (e.g. Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
- Strong knowledge of DevOps automation tooling (e.g. Azure DevOps, Terraform)
- Azure DevOps/SysOps/Developer certifications a plus
- Experience with Informatica products a plus
