I have a question, particularly for the oracle OCI builder, but could apply to AWS one too, is the template instance stopped (not terminated of course) before the image is taken ? It does not seem to be clearly indicated in the documentation and I suspect it is not stopped.
While it is possible to make a snapshot while an instance is running, it leaves the filesystem in a “hot” state that is not ideal, it would be better to cleanly unmount and stop the instance.
