Migration on Hashicorp vault disks/VMs

Hi Team,

We are planning to migrate disks from “Premium” to “Premium V2” in our Production environment.

Note: Premium V2 disks do not support “host caching”, which means data is not cached after being read from the disk. We’ve observed that VMs with host caching enabled may experience slight latency in data access. However, this impact is not considered significant for non-database VMs.

Our environment is currently configured in open-source with 3 nodes.

We would like to clarify few doubts,

Will it create any impact in our current setup by disabling host caching?

Looking forward to your feedback and suggestions.

Thanks,
Momina

Hi Team,

Do we have any update on the above mentioned query?

Thanks,
Momina

Hi @momina.anjum-b ,

On your question of whether changing disks types will have any impact, there is no - as far as I am aware - requirement to use a specific disk type.

Whether this will have an impact on your environment is not something than can be answered in a forum post as there are so many variables and information I do not have.

I would very highly recommend testing this migration in a non-production environment, or if you do not have a non-prod cluster consider standing up a new cluster with the desired nodes, perform a restore, and test against the new cluster.
