Hello Eduardo - We do not plan to release any more 1.8.x community edition. The 1.9.x branch is the latest and where all future patch releases will occur until 1.10 comes out next spring. This is a change from earlier this year when we released LTS for our Enterprise products: Long-Term Support (LTS)

Just to confirm, if we face critical and multiple security issues in versions later than 1.8.4 (community), the only available solution will be to upgrade to 1.9.x, as no patches will be provided for these older versions. Is that correct?

That is correct, community will receive patches in the latest major release. For our enterprise version, we will maintain prior patched majors, including the LTS.
