The Packer team is excited to announce the release of Packer 1.10.2.
This release contains a small improvement to the packer plugins install command, and some quality of life improvements with HCP Packer. For a full list of changes, please refer to the Packer CHANGELOG.
Notable Changes:

cmd/plugins: Add support for installing local development binaries to packer plugins install. This change improves how plugins can be installed from a locally-sourced binary with the packer plugins install command. Version 1.10.0 of Packer introduced the --path option to install plugin releases from a local copy, this release also enables support for development binaries through that same workflow.

core: Validate bucket name when using hcp_packer_registry block. This quality-of-life change makes Packer able to more quickly report errors with the HCP Packer bucket name before the build starts.
