Looking for some assistance as I have an intermittent issue when building VM’s using the vSphere ISO plugin with Packer.
I have no issues when using the same method on my homelab but when attempting to build out in prod - I run into an issue where the build often fails at random intervals. This can be during any of the provisioner steps and it appears the error is down to the fact that Packer seems to think it’s not authenticated with vCenter?
In the screenshot below, the Windows Update provisioner is running then suddenly the build fails.
At first I thought it was down to maybe using the vSAN datastore for provisioning the VM so I decided to switch to a Local datastore attached to an ESXi host - but looks like the problem remains.
I doubt it’s firewall related as everything is on the same VLAN so firewall rules are not coming in to play here.
I am using the SSH communicator but the issue also occurs with WinRM.
Any advice is welcome.
