What is the recommended backup/restore scenario for Vault filesystem storage backend? Is snapshot based backup like Avamar is a option?

In general, any storage update mechanism can be used.
Please keep in mind that Vault does not ensure consistency. That means, if you copy your Vault storage file while Vault is writing data to it, the destination file can be inconsistent.
