Vault Redeployment Throttling on `logical/$UUID/packer/buckets

Hello everyone,

I’m reaching out to see if anyone can shed light on the purpose and function of the logical/$uuid/packer/buckets path within Vault. I’ve scoured the documentation but haven’t found any references or explanations.

Each time we redeploy Vault, we’re observing an unexpected increase in Write Throttling events. We’re currently at a loss for why this occurs and are looking for strategies to mitigate it. Our investigations led us to enable CloudWatch Contributor Insights for DynamoDB, through which we discovered that the throttling is tied to partition keys related to the aforementioned path. We’ve also noticed that after the re-redeployment, there is also an increase in vault_barrier_list metric, but I’m not 100% sure if this could be the reason.

We’ve tried checking the logs of the service, for throttling, etc, but we could not find anything about that either.

Any insights or guidance on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your assistance!
Helio
