I can't login to discuss, except for in incognito

I don’t know what category to put this in.

I cannot login to discuss because it keeps telling me my email is taken. All I do is click “Sign in” and it takes me to this page. I already have an account, so of course it’s taken, it’s taken by me. I’ve tried opening up the chrome developer tools and clearing the application cache/storage/cookies… including 3rd party… and it still doesn’t work.

The only way I can do it… is pop open an incognito window and then login via Github.

Hi @nathanpalmer, thanks for this report. Since Discuss login is controlled by our HashiCorp single-sign-on, I’m guessing there is some wedged cookie in the .hashicorp.com space somewhere that is causing this. It may help to log out of HCP and HCP Terraform or any other HashiCorp cloud product you may have logged into, or to clear out cookies for the hashicorp.com domain(s). I’ll also forward this to the Discourse support team, in case they know of a direct solution. Thanks!

Thanks for the response. I’m not sure if something changed, but today it worked just fine. I’m on the same computer, same browser. Next time, if I see it again, I’ll check the list of cookies and delete any from .hashicorp.com.

Maybe a bad cookie expired or something. We didn’t do anything on this end. Thanks for the update, let us know if it happens again.

@nathanpalmer quick note, Discourse responded and let me know the OAuth2 response they were getting for your login had the email_verified attribute coming back as false, which was apparently causing problems with the login. I’m not sure why that would be true, but as it seems to have resolved itself, hopefully this issue will not recur. Thanks!
