Clients and Servers on the WAN?

Hello,

Question for the wizards… I have a scenario of multiple (hundreds) of individual machines distributed globally. No private addressing, each usually on a /30 subnet. WAN latency between that fleet and 3 management DC’s is between 100 and 250ms. I’ve been reading about Consul, and all the documentations tells this doesn’t work for Consul, as 1) you can’t form a cluster over different subnets, much less over the WAN, and 2) all the clients need to communicate with a server running on the same subnet. Is this correct and I should start looking elsewhere, or could the functionality be stretched to support this scenario, regardless of the recommended architectures?

Thanks a lot!
