When closing boundary, it asks whether connections should be closed - with no connections open

Hi,

i am using boundary client on Mac, Version 2.3.3

We have configured a session lifetime of 12 hours, so even if I start a connection a minute before I leave work (at ~16:30), the connection has timed out next morning when I start working (at ~7:30).

So in the morning there can’t be any connection.

When I close boundary in the morning I get asked “Close sessions before quitting?”

Why? As there can’t be any connection …

Can this be fixed please?

Andreas

Hi,

Thanks for reporting this, we’ll take a look and update you when we have a fix for this.

We have a fix for this in our next Boundary Desktop client being released this week. I’ll report back when it’s available for download.

Hi @andreas.waechter, the latest version of the Boundary Desktop client (v2.4.0) has been released. Can you give the latest version a try and let us know if that resolves the issue you’re seeing? Thanks!

just back from holiday. New version is installed. Can report tomorrow (if I killed the connections manually, the dialog did not pop up - so they have to time out …)

There is a difference now - the box asking whether the connections should be closed is different now - but still existing.

I cancelled, switched to the session tab, it says No Sessions Available.

When I switch back to the Targets screen, there are several Yes in the Active sessions column …

(when I try to use one of those sessions, I get: Could not establish the connection … - thus, session screen is correct, target screen is wrong).

Okay, next attempt at quitting - the screenshotted box appears. OK button does nothing. Cancel works. So now I have to quit Boundary via Mac’s “Sofort beenden” feature.

Sorry, but I have to say: it is worse now then before …

Hi @andreas.waechter,

Thank you for reporting these issues!

How often are you encountering the issue with the “OK” button not working in the “Close sessions before quitting?” modal? Is this issue consistently reproducible on your end?

As for the bug with there being “Active sessions” in the Targets page, we are working on getting that issue fixed.

2 out of 5 times (estimated) the box appears - and if it appears, the ok button does not work. Happens at colleagues as well.
in the remaining 3 out of 5 cases, boundary finishes without a popup (as expected).

Often, if restarted after the box has appeared, I have to terminate again because search in target list does not react to input.

We have multiple users on Windows, Mac and Linux (Fedora) that are encountering this issue with Desktop v2.5.0. Is there an official bug or ETA on fix for this yet?

on Mac, the following helps:

Do not click “terminate” (or “quit” or whatever is the English equivalent of German “beenden”) on the boundary task bar icon.

Use the red x button on the top left corner to close the window, only then use menu entry Quit Boundary.

Doing it as described, you don’t get the popup.
(not a real solution, just a workaround)
